    Albert Einstein

My favorite Al is definitely Al Pacino. I admire him because he grew up poor with his father out of the picture from a young age. He never finished high school but went on to star in innumerable films, plays and TV movies. He took low paying jobs to pay for acting lessons. He also never forgot his humble beginnings by helping his mother and grandparents financially. My favorite character that he played, of course, was in The Godfather trilogy. His acting is so natural that you completely lose yourself in the character. He has been nominated for 7 Academy Awards (he won’t one), 14 Emmy awards (he won 7) and 2 lifetime achievement awards. He doesn’t look the same as the younger Al Pacino but his acting is still superb.

My favorite “Al” is Al Franken, United States Senator from Minnesota. The first time I saw Senator Franken was on Saturday Night Live. He was subdued but hilarious. (He also wrote for the show.) Years later, I read one of his books and it was so good, I had to get another. (He’s written several books.) Senator Franken is extremely intelligent AND gets to the point, unlike most other politicians. And his ideas make a lot of sense. When he questions someone at committee sessions, he asks a simple question and repeats it until he gets an answer, rather than doublespeak. I would love to see Al Franken run for President someday.

Al Franken is my favorite Al. I’ve watched him during Congressional hearings and he cuts through the bs and tries to get straight answers. I never would have thought a comedian would make a good Congressman, but he proved me wrong.

My favorite Al was a bagger at the grocery store where I work. He was retired from his other job, but enjoyed being around people, so he worked as a bagger. He was so nice. Eventually, his health declined and he had to quit, and a couple weeks ago I found out on Facebook that he had passed away after a long fight against cancer.

My favorite Al was our Weight & Conditioning Coach in High School. If the off season and especially during the summer he made himself available to keep us in shape for all sports. It was optional to participate, but if you did, the dividends were huge. You could put on 10 pounds of muscle with Al. I credit him for us winning so many football games. When people asked us how we got into such spectacular shape, we said, “It’s Bodies By Al!”

My favorite Al was my Coach and Gym Teacher in High School. In the Guy, Big Al worked us hard

My favorite Al was a man named Al Pitt who started Murray’s Discount Auto Stores. He had the bark of a lion but the heart of a lamb. When he came into one of his stores, he barked orders and made everyone nervous. They even had a totem pole system where the managers would alert other stores what side of town he was on. I was afraid of him at first but once I got to know him and found out what a big heart he had I loved him. Three things he did for me in my 14 year with Murrays was he made my house payment for me once during bad times, he paid me a maternity leave although there wasn’t such a thing and he guaranteed payment on experimental surgery I had. He was a good man and treated his long time employees as family. When he died I’m sure the angels sang. He is dearly missed.

My favourite Al is Alexander Graham Bell. I do not know where I would be without my phone!

Granted, the first phones were not too smart. It looks like they couldn’t figure out how to download apps to the version 0.0. Oh well, the brilliant minds at Bell Labs decided that was someone else’s problem in the future.

Al Bundy from Married with Children. In that show he was so dumb he was funny. The shoe salesman Al, the hand always in his pants Al, never fails to make me laugh, even now when they replay an episode on tv, even though I have already seen all of them. I still laugh as much as I did the first time I watched it. Heck I even laugh when I say his name, Al Bundy!

  • Jason Provo

Alastair Sims. He was the best Scrooge out of any of the Christmas Carol movies. His ability to act comedy in many British films of his time allowed him to add an accessible dimension to the character that both other actors and even the book’s character were missing.
Hmm…this daily question is getting me all excited for Christmas…

My favorite Al is Vice President Al Gore. Along with President Bill Clinton, they helped build the economy. During the Clinton administration, it was the longest economic expansion in history; the lowest unemployment since the early 1970s; and the lowest poverty rates for single mothers, black Americans, and the aged. Thanks to Gore and Clinton, our economy was at a surplus; thanks very much Al Gore!

  • Humayoon Suleman Khel

  • Jackee Anderson

Al Bundy from Married with Children

  • Colleen Goodbrand

My favourite Al was a white cat from a near by farm that we took in after he had been hit by a car and badly injured. He had been visiting us priot to the accident and after had had been hit, he managed to drag himself to our front porch, despite a broken front leg. My husband called the vet ,who opened her office for us, after hours, and who performed a lengthy series of surgeries on him to fix his leg and jaw. He experienced a cardiac arrest during the surgery but she brought him around. He recuperated at our home and lived many more years. He turned out to be the most affectionate , well natured cat we ever had the pleasure of knowing.

  • Connies Crib

Al Bunday!! He was my hero when I was a kid.He scored four touchdowns in a single game while playing for the Polk High including the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds against his old nemesis, “Spare Tire” Dixon!!

  • G Malloway

I think Al in his plaid from Home Improvement is hilarious! “I don’t think so Tim.”

  • Chakotay Avila

Al Pacino. When I was in acting school, I met Al in New York, just walking on the street. After gushing about how much I admired him and his work, I asked him, “What makes you so great.”? He answered, in all seriousness, “Do you know what makes me great? It’s because I hate myself!” Now this was 40 years ago, but I will never forget it.

  • Rochelle Pieper

Senator Al Franken, before and after he became a Senator has kept his sense of humor

  • I think of many rulers that were respected by their people, had loyal followers, and anyone that worked with them tried to make a good deal so everyone concerned would feel loved. Alexander the Great is the first that comes to mind, and the independent spirit and that winning isn’t possible without trying are remembered in the name “Alexander” is mentioned by many of my family and friends who love history.

  • Theresa Holly
