Actually, the movie “Love Story is my favorite love story. To this day, I can’t watch it without crying! “Live means never having to say you’re sorry.” Now THAT I may not agree with, but the movie’s still great!

    • Sowmya

Diane, Love Story is one of my favourite movies too.

      • Diane Krumenaker Eugenio

I read the book, too. I forget which I did first.

  • Nicole D. C

My own! It may not be perfect but it feels pretty good.

    Billy Joe and Bobbie Sue:
This here’s a story about Billy Joe and Bobbie Sue
Two young lovers with nothin’ better to do
Than sit around the house, get high, and watch the tube
And here is what happened when they decided to cut loose…

  • Carol Miller

My favorite love story is still (and always will be) Jane Austin’s Pride and Prejudice. Here is a story at a time when class distinction was paramount. Elizabeth Bennett is somewhat of a enigma to Mr. Darcy. She is intelligent, witty, frank and full of pride. These qualities beguile Darcy. He is use to women throwing themselves at him and is furthermore a snob, who looks down on the middle class. When Elizabeth first refuses his proposal of marriage, Darcy is not only flabbergasted but insulted. The plot has many twists and turns but when Elizabeth discovers that Darcy has helped untangle the knot of her sister Jane’s marriage, she begins to look upon him differently. The reader is cheering the entire time, waiting for them to admit their love for each other. When it finally happens, it is like fireworks on the Fourth of July. You just know they were meant for each other and so happy so many of the upper class snobs are so astounded. If you haven’t read Pride and Prejudice, and like true love stories, treat yourself. You won’t be disappointed.

    • Diane Krumenaker Eugenio

      I’ll read it, Carol!

      • Carol Miller

Diane, just remember, when you are reading it that it is set in the 1800’s and Jane Austin is poking fun at most of these characters. Some of these characters you will laugh about and others you will want to choke. PBS has had it on a couple of times and Keira Knightly starred in the movie version. The costumes in the film adaptations are gorgeous. The actor who won the academy award for The King’s Speech, played Darcy on the PBS show. He was fantastic. You will love it.

        • Diane Krumenaker Eugenio

If you’re recommending it, I’m sure it’ll be really, really good, Carol.

  • Tammy Boyd

My favorite love story is Sherk and I can’t think of her.it show that look don’t matter you can be ugly on the outside and beautiful on the inside

  • Anthony Taylor

My favorite would be “the Case for Loving” or Loving v. Virginia- its the story of Mildred Jeter and Richard Loving, an interracial couple who fought for the right to love and marry someone of another race. My wife and I recently read this story to our boys and every time we read it someone gets a little emotional. Being that we are an interracial couple- it is very hard for our kids to imagine a time when the government would stop love just based on appearance

    • Diane Krumenaker Eugenio

Sounds like a great love story, Anthony. I have to order that book!

      • Anthony Taylor

The actual case is definitely worth a Google and there was a movie recently (I haven’t seen it, so I can’t recommend it)

        • Diane Krumenaker Eugenio

          Will do. Thanks, Anthony!

    • Rhonda Coleman

My husband and I just watched that movie last night! It was a beautiful story of love that defies all odds. The thing that broke my heart was that after all the fighting was over and they won their case, he died 6 years later, killed by a drunk driver. Their love will live on and those of us in interracial marriages and relationships can remember how they fought for the right that we all enjoy today.

  • dottie p

the one i am going through right now. i met a man a few months ago on line. he is perfect, smart, cute, a true gentleman. we talk daily, he is now in Peru doing a documentary on Incan civilization. but will be back in about 5 weeks. then he is coming here in June. then going back home getting everything straightened out and is moving to be here with me by December. we will be opening a photo studio here and will be running it together. he loves me and i love him. he loves me even though i have a lot and i mean a lot of health care issues, he loves me even though i’m not a size 2, he has accepted me. and i have accepted him i am so excited, there has been no love in my life for 18 years, my daughter came 1st. now it’s my time and i found him. or should i say he found me first. it’s been a dream come true.

    • Deb

dottie, I am so happy for you!!

      • dottie p

thank you. i’m happy for me too LOL

  • Sue W.

I still love the classic…Romeo and Juliet, two young lovers with disapproving parents…LOL….just like today!

  • Christy

Mine! 8 years in an abusive relationship but that was only to have been given 2 beautiful daughters because when I found my true love, he had been wounded 4 times in Vietnam and was unable to have kids. We married when my daughters were 2 and 5 so he raised them with me. We had humble, tough beginnings but we stayed strong and the reward is that we’ve been married 26 years and have 2 daughters and 2 amazing grandchildren. Everything in life happens for a reason. You may not know why it happened until 25 years have gone by but at some point you’ll realize that it all worked out the way it was supposed to!

    • Diane Krumenaker Eugenio

      I’m happy for you, Christy!

      • Christy

        Thanks. Me too!!

  • Marie Angelie Delima

My favorite Love story is about my Mom and Dad back in the Philippines. My dad was a so-called rich kid before (he’s a child of a Government official), and my mom was a poor girl living in a small house with just her mother and her big brother. One time, my father wants to ride a train to go somewhere when he saw my mother (who,he said, looks so adorable) sitting on the corner, eating ice cream. He sat beside her, they talk a lot of funny stuff, and eventually tried to give each other home addresses so that they can write letters every now and then. My dad admit that ever since that train incident, he fell in love at first sight.

    • Diane Krumenaker Eugenio

      Awwww. That’s so sweet, Marie!

  • Joey Why

Well I would have say my favourite love story even though it ends in tragedy is Romeo and Juliet.

  • Sylvia

I think the most heart tugging love story is between a child and their mother. At the beginning of every year I have an open house so I can meet and greet the parents of my kindergarten students. I always remind my students to make sure they introduce me to their parents since I have never met them. One year as I was reminding my little ones of this request Issac raised his hand to reassure me that I would know his mom right away because she would be the most beautiful person in the room. I was so touched by this innocent outpouring of love from a child to his mom I almost cried. Wouldn’t the world be a much better place if we could love with the purity and acceptance of a child?

    • Diane Krumenaker Eugenio

      Absolutely, Sylvia!

    • Karen T

      Yes, it would be beautiful!

  • Rochelle Pieper

    The Notebook❤

  • Ken Grant

My favorite love story is my parents. 54 years and still going strong. They never go anywhere without each other holding each other’s hands. it’s amazing.

  • Mark Hall

If you’ve never seen it you should really check out The Princess Bride, it’s one of the best told love stories I have ever watched, comedy, tragedy, pirates and some of the best one liners in movie history.

  • 77giggles

My absolute fav love story is Gone With The Wind…… I have the movie, and watched it in the big screen movie theater way back, and have also read the book… My favorite all around!!

    • Diane Krumenaker Eugenio

My mom took me to see it one of the times they re-released it. Before I went in, I thought, “Ew. Such a long movie. But time flew by. It was one of my mom’s favorites! What a wonderful movie!!!

  • jesse jess

    The notebook

  • Christina G’Angeli

My grandparents! They met at a spaghetti dinner for WWII soldiers that where about to ship out. According to the story my grandfather started it all by making monkey faces at her across the room. They married shortly after my grandfather came home from the war and where together until his death 11 years ago. My grams never remarried and insisted on having a picture of my grandfather in each room of the house so she could talk to him no matter where and what she was doing. She passed away last week three days shy of her 95th birthday and while it’s been difficult, I keep reminding myself she’s finally back with the love of her life.

    • Diane Krumenaker Eugenio

Awwww. Thanks for the story, Christina! How sweet!

      • Christina G’Angeli

anytime diane! hope all is well

  • Tracey Barlow Blake

While you were Sleeping…..movie starring Sandra Bullock
OR~~ animation ~~ would be Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.

    • Diane Krumenaker Eugenio

We won four tickets to see Beauty and the Beast on Broadway. It was so much better than expected. I cried (as usual!).

  • Vonnie Aldrete

My favorite love story is not just one. It involves the numerous couples, I have read about, married for 50+ years and pass away within hours or days of each other. They are a true testament about what true love is, as the second one dies of a broken heart.

    • Diane Krumenaker Eugenio

Yep. Broken Heart Syndrome. As an RN, I was always amazed by that diagnosis!

      • Vonnie Aldrete

        Sad, but beautiful!

  • Angie Beedie

My favorite love story is Pay it forward, To this day I cannot help but cry because this little boy loved everyone so much and someone took it away from the world because they didn’t understand. Classic case of school yard bullying.

  • Erin Estilette

The Notebook. It gets me every time!

    • Sowmya

      It makes me teary!

  • Michaele Dalin Goodson

My mom & dad , she was mowing the grass, and he and a friend road by. My dad said he saw her and told his friend” that’s going to be my wife” and here I am. She was fifteen and he was nineteen, they were married four days after my mom’s sixteenth birthday. This year would have been Thier 57th anniversary. We lost my dad to cancer in 2013. We were raised in a house full of love. They flirted with each other all the time. She showed me how to be a good wife and life partner.

    • Karen T

I’m sorry for your loss. You are blessed to have a family so loving toward one another.☺

      • Michaele Dalin Goodson

Thank you. I’m blessed for sure!

  • Sara DuVall

The mst innocpand Romantic love story is Lady and the Tramp!!
” Sigh” they are so cute!!!

  • Diane Lane

It was my mom and dad. In October 1950 my parents got engaged mom was 17 and was 21. 3 weeks after their engagement, my dad received a letter in the mail it started off with Greetings. That was the test of any relationship, my dad was to report to Fort Dix before going to Korea the week before Thanksgiving. My dad was a first generation American and believed serving the country was the right thing. All he asked was that his beloved fianceeto write to him. My mom wrote to him everyday, writing over 500 letters during his 2 years of service. Those letters and devotion kept my dad going in Korea, and a 64 year marriage.

  • I enjoy the love story of Aladdin where Aladdin had to fight on his own power to rescue his princess from the sorcerer.

  • MT

My Dog Skip. Nothing like the first dog a boy has.

  • Ray Ayala

Lucille Ball and Ricky Ricardo, definitely, because they were a love story in real life and on television. The reruns are still some of my favorites!

  • Stacie Snow

I think its my husbands aunt she was married for forty years but after her husband passed away she reconnected with her high school boyfriend his wife had passed too they have been together for the past eight years now

  • Rebecca lee

My favourite love story is Bonnie and Clyde. It’s not your typical love story but I think its so romantic. Bonnie was a well educated, well spoken and intelligent young women however when she met Clyde it was love at first sight. Bonnies love for Clyde took her on to the wrong side of the law and yet they were devoted to each other. They agreed that they would rather die together than be separated, and this came true in a hail of police bullets. The sad thing is that they longed to be buried together but Bonnies family refused to allow it. They were criminals and what they did was wrong, but I see it as a tragic love story, full of excitement and one that still holds a place in America’s heart.

  • Chrystal Ozovek

I think any parent – mom’s especially – would agree that there is no greater love story then the moment you lay eyes on your newborn baby. It’s simply love at first sight.

    • Diane Krumenaker Eugenio

      Spoken like a true mom!

  • Noel Stewart

The maid and the milkman is my favorite love story. The maid was my Mom and the Milkman, my Dad, delivered milk to the maid two days a week back in the 1930’s! WWII interrupted their marriage and delayed their family; eventually the two were blessed with three children.

  • Judy Burba McGarvey

Mine would be my Mom and Dad’s story. She went to work at her uncle’s little country store when she was sixteen. My dad had just moved down to his dad’s farm for the summer. One day after plowing fields all day, he walked down to the store for a cold drink. She took one look at him and said “Goodness, you’re a mess!” and he said “Goodness, I think I’m in love.” So he started coming in every day and her uncle told him he’d better go talk to her Daddy. And that’s just what he did. He married “his little brown-eyed country girl” when she was just seventeen and they were married 62 years when he passed two years ago.

  • John Morgan

    “You complete me”
    “You had me at hello”

Come on, who hasn’t teared up at that scene? Maybe one of the best love scenes in a movie and certainly one that has been parodied in many other movies.

  • Deb

Being a mom, my favorite love story is ‘Stella Dallas’. It stars Barbara Stanwyck and is the story of a mother’s self-sacrificing love for her daughter. If you’ve never seen it….spoiler alert !….it’s a real tear jerker.

    • Diane Krumenaker Eugenio

I’ve heard of it but never saw it. I’ll be on the lookout on my “On Demand” movies, Deb.

  • rose morgan

The one in the movie “Love Story”.

  • MyKinKStar

A new love is always my favorite love story. It’s hopeful and fun and all about being nice and careful to show nothing but good qualities.

  • Tabatha Howay

The Addam’s Family because of the love between Gomez & Morticia. I loved the show, what little I saw of it growing up & still love those characters and how loving they were despite the gothic appearance.

    • stef

That’s a true love story just because they love each other how they are and they are capable of everything for every member of their family.

  • Diane Krumenaker Eugenio

    So true, Karen!

    • Karen T

      • Diane Krumenaker Eugenio

Awwwww. Thanks, Karen! I actually cried tears of joy after my first patient had her baby. It’s a very emotional thing for me.

  • Dannais Salinas

  • jock

Anyone who knows Shah Janah will easily think of Taj Mahal. Built in the memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal who died giving birth to their 14th child. Taj Mahal meaning Crown of the Palace is a shining example of a husbands love affection grief and sorrow. The Mausoleum is complex houses the wifes tomb in the center and completed in 1653 after more than 2 decades of construction. Taj Mahal was incribed as UNESCO heritage site in 1983 and continues to be a beacon structure of love. The day I set foot in the complex I cried for an unknown reason but I felt something random that I couldnt explain. Just staring at the Taj Mahal will awe you to pieces. Its just magnificent and spiritual.

  • Natania

They met in 1965, their freshman year and she fell madly in love as her eyes met his. They dated off and on, for the next four years. He went out on several dates with other girls, but continuously came back. She never went out with anyone else, knowing her feelings were so strong for this man. She just new as he matured and got older, they would be together forever, so she waited patiently. He asked her to their senior prom in 1969, and for the first time he told her he loved her. After graduation, he went into the military and once again she waited on him. They wrote love letters almost everyday and talked on the phone. In 1972, he came home and they wasted no time getting to the alter. They planned their wedding in a week, and she went back with him and they lived on base. They had 3 daughters and moved back to Kentucky in 1978 where they raised their family. He was an air traffic controller and sold real estate. He worked hard so his wife could stay home with the girls. Tragically in 1994 he passed away at 42 years old. I will never forget that day because it was my Dad. My Mom has all the letters they ever wrote. Still to this day my Mom has never been with another man. She doesn’t even have any desire to. I don’t think there is to many people who can say they have only had 1 partner in their life, especially these days. My Mom and Dad were so much in love, I hardly ever heard them fight, they were so romantic and always made sure to take are of each other.

    • Karen T

I’m so sorry you lost your Dad, especially at such a young age. Your Mom is a very strong and determined woman.
I believe they’ll be together again someday. ☺

      • Natania

Karen, thank you, I believe that too!

    • Amy Spate

  • Robert Bradshaw

the fox and the hound is favorite love story having to raise up the fix and let it go so it could live

  • ramadevi

Romeo and Juliet. I heard about this story when I was 10yrs old from my sisters when they were discussing it from their English book. First I heard that they were very young loves, then I used to ask questions why and how the love happens because at that age I don’t know what is love between boy and girl. I already heard the story and when I was in 10th grade I had it in English book. My teacher was very good to narrate the story in a dramatic way. It was very good feeling at that age. So Romeo and Juliet is my favourite love story, they are still alive in my thoughts.

  • The greatest love story for me has to be the one of my parents. This upcoming September will be their 50th wedding anniversary and if you know my parents, then you know they are the epitome of the word soul mates. There has not been a day gone by that my parents did not say i love you to one another nor kiss eachother. They always speak of their love and how when they first met they each felt tingles throughout their bodies and seen this bright yellow light surrounding them, almost like a tether. Everyone who has ever known them always feels blessed to be able to witness their love. They are like one and as each day passes their relationship grows stronger. I have yet to find another couple so in love, so in tune, so undeniably perfect for eachother. Because of them I have not lost hope. They make me believe there are soul mates in the world, so i will keep searching for my other half

  • Diane Krumenaker Eugenio

I read the book, too. Excellent!

  • Sowmya

I must say ‘Gone with the wind’. I am not even born when the movie was released. I saw the movie in 1980 after 40 years of it’s release, when I was 20 years old. All the characters are brilliantly portrayed, and you start to feel their pain after a while. Excellent movie!!

  • dolfanatl

My favorite is Beauty and the Beast because it reminds me of my own love story. Obviously, my wife is the beauty and I am the beast. 🙂

  • Paul Clément

My favourite love story is that of my parents. The first met when children. They were about 6 or seven years old back in the late 20’s. As neighbours, the often played together and dad always had a chuckle telling us he first slept with mom when they were kids. In 1940, dad crossed the ocean to join many others in defending and liberating Normandy, France, Belgium and the Netherlands while mom waited on the home front. Fortunately for us (8 siblings), he returned, went back to dating mom and they married in May 1947. Together, they raised 8 children and had a simple but loving life. Sadly, mom has passed but dad has never forgotten to remind us how much she meant to him. He is not in the best of health right now but continues to be a beacon in our family much as he has always been and this Valentine’s Day, we reflect on the perfect love story in our lives: Mom and Dad, you have shown us what true love really is. Thank you!

  • Michael Jiang

Mid-February marks the beginning of mating season for many birds. Even the great Shakespeare wrote in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, “Saint Valentine is past: Begin these wood-birds but to couple now?” Among the most faithful of birds, swans choose a mate and stay with them for life.

  • Jim Laubach

My favorite love story is the story of my life with Katie, my wife for the past 35-plus years. I’d had a failed marriage before, and was dating quite a bit. But when I met her, I knew instantly that we were destined for one another. I proposed 2 months later. We’re not only lovers, we’re best friends too. I became disabled in 2000, and she has taken incredibly good care of me. She is the love of my life, mother to our 6 children and grandmother to 3 grandsons. We are inseparable.

  • SUSAN CLOSE

I have recently heard in the nightly news pundits shows about this case. You have made me curions and I will have to put the “The Case For Loving” on my reading list

  • SUSAN CLOSE

    Ali MacGraw, Ryan O’Neal.

  • Leslie Anne Soloman

My favorite love story is the one presented by one of the couples in my church. Actually there are two that similar but I’ll iliminate one of them. The husband was a man that really loved GOD. He was a Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, a wonderful, marvelous baritone voice in the choir. His wife was a gracious, loyal, soft-spoken, wonderful wife and mother. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and her husband took such great loving care of her. He bathed her, fed her, clothed her, talked to her even though she was unable to respond to him, took her everywhere he went. He however died suddenly but inspired their three children so that they took the same kind of care of their mother until her death. Their story is still an inspiration to me personally as well or her members of our congregation.

  • Brittany Johnson

My favorite love story is of one where two people actually love each other through thick and thin My fiance and I have been together for only 3 years but it feels life so much longer he saved me from a very dark time in my life. I lost my dad at 10, was raped at 15, and was diagnosed with depression a week before my 18th birthday. I was drinking, sneaking around with older men some of which had families. I turned down going to college. I was lost. I had been on Facebook that night looking for someone to hangout with when I noticed a friends request. When I saw it was a cute guy I accepted it. We started talking he called me beautiful, sweetie, cutie, adorable, rather than hot or sexy. We met up and instantly I felt a connection. His smile was genuine his eyes told truth. He drove an hour for the next 11 days to see me. After only 2 weeks of knowing him we were living together. He would take me out to dinner, hold doors, and show me off to his family and friends. A few months later we found out I was expecting. He proposed to me Christmas eve that year while we waited for a blizzard to clear up. We spend every moment 6/29/`15 at 12:57pm we heard our daughter cry for the first time. That moment made us fall in love all over again. He is still my best friend to this day. He is my knight in shining armor.

The City on the Edge of Forever”…a classic star trek episode where Captain Kirk falls in love with Edith Keeler, played by Joan Collins.
